Somatic therapy is a form of therapy that focuses on the mind-body connection and the way that emotions and past traumas can manifest physically. Psychotherapists who use somatic therapy techniques incorporate the body into the therapeutic process to help clients process and release pent-up emotions and trauma.
Here are some ways a therapist may use somatic therapy in their practice: Body Awareness, Breath work, Movement, Mindfulness, and Trauma Release.
